All Back and Buns!

Who wants to take a vote? How many pushups do you think this guy does for those shoulders? Let’s not forget the buns– whoa crap! look a those babies!

This cover might be my favorite. But I’m not sure. I do still have tomorrow’s cover left to show and…WOW. yeah. just you wait!

Rough Play is the second in The Roughnecks coming in 2012. I promise you, the characters are holding up to the title! Flora and Jacob are playing a dangerous game of flirtation and friends-with-benefit and everything about them is alllll rough.

Want proof? How about a little excerpt for you?

Jacob winced. “Sorry. You cursed, I thought I’d offer to help a woman in distress.”

“I’m not in distress.” She released the hold on the tape. The long metal sucked back in the holder. She pulled a pad of paper from her belt, added a number to an already long list and tucked the note back away.

“Now that I’m closer, I see you look plenty capable.” And tough. But still beautiful. And curious. And interesting. Jacob hadn’t come across that combination in a while.

“Thank you. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have more measurements to take.”

“Need any help?”

Her ponytail swished across her back as she glanced around. “Thought we established I was plenty capable?”

“We did. But if you finish early, that means there’s time to take you to dinner.”

She propped her hands on her hips and met his gaze and dear God by the spark in her eye and turn of her brow, he was just getting a taste of this woman. “Are you asking me out because you think I’m easy?”

“If I thought you were easy, I wouldn’t have bothered with the date part.”

Her lips twitched. “Too bad.” She slipped her pad in her tool belt and walked across the kitchen. Her arms were out and holding her balance like some circus walker.

He followed. “Too bad what?”

“Too bad you didn’t take me for easy.” She glanced over her shoulder. “That I would have gone for.”

“Well, in that case.”

She chuckled. “Nope. Too late. You’ve already shown your colors as one of those clingy relationship guys.”

Jacob Iverson. Clingy relationship guys. He nearly laughed aloud. Dear God, the people who would fall on their asses if they ever heard that. “Are you for real?”

She continued walking, chin up, steps sure and words sounding somewhat distracted. “Last time I checked I was. If you wake from a dream in a few hours, I guess you’ll know.”

He was helpless but to follow. “Ah, so you could be the woman of my dreams.”

Her brow lifted. “Again with the clingy talk.”

“Depends on the kind of dream.”

She laughed. The sound full and rich. “Touché.”

BOOOOO! It’s Monday.

Happy Halloween, folks! If you know even a >tiny< bit about me, then you should know this is the best day ever for me. Why? CANDY. And lots of it. My sweet tooth is already making feel good moves. Be thinking of your favorite candy and keep it in mind for the end of the post.

So anyway, back to this Monday Update thing. Last week I was working on Rough Ride. If all went well, I turned that in on Sunday. Or I’m about to today. I’m writing this up early, so we’ll just have to wait and see. I’m hoping I got that finished, because if I did, I’m moving on to Rough Play. It’s second in my Roughneck series and I loves it much. Jacob and Flora are agreeing to a little no-strings-attached-lovin’. This story is turning out a smiiiidge more sexy than the others, but these two are pretty happy in their no-strings agreement. I’m going to have to shake that up a bit or that’s going to get old. At least writing it will.

I have a release coming up! Check out Chasing Her Trail. It’s number 6 in my Apple Trail series and will probably start popping up for sale sometime later this week. Watch my twitter stream for the lastest deets on that.

So since it’s Halloween and day of giving away goodies AND I have a new release coming up, leave me a comment. Let me know your favorite sweet treat and I’ll pick someone to win their choice of my backlist! and yes–the Anthology with Through The Wall, On The Fence, and In The Hay is part of my backlist and an option to pick! (hinthint)

What I’ve been working on.

Usually I have several projects at once going on, but one tends to take center stage. (AKA, the one that should be finished like, yesterday). Since Jane at Dear Author had this awesome website advice column for authors, I’m trying out this idea to be more open with what’s going for readers. So! I’ll aim for “What’s Keri Up To On Monday”. And …we’ll just see how it goes! Also be on the look out for new and updated things. If you’ve been here before, poke around and see what you find.

For this week I’m working on Rough Ride. It’s the first novella of my next series, The Roughnecks coming out in 2012. It features the Iverson Triplets you met in Satisfying Her Tastes. If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for? You should probably check it out. Lane makes an appearence at the end. For probably a couple seconds. Clearly it’s important to reading his story (NOT). Also, the heroine is mentioned in that book. Seriously. Going off the top of my head, but the line is something like “there’s a lady in town who owns a trailer park. She’ll let you rent out by the month.” Obviously, that’s important and should be read in context to understand her character. There’s also pond side frisking and tent lovin’ during a rainstorm. I’d read Satisfying Her Tastes for those parts myself.

Rough Ride is scheduled for release May 2012. My editor and I have to have it in by February 2012. Which really is just a long way of saying I need to get this book in ASAP because the holidays are coming and who wants to juggle work with all that food??

Rough Ride is set in my little town of Apple Trail and features Lane Iverson. He’s the youngest of the triplets and right now he’s a moody little turd. For some reason I’ve yet to figure out, Gretchen is attracted him. I think she sees him as the silent tortured type. She has the pleasure of not being in his head like I do, so that’s a bonus…for her. I’m sure the three of us will work it out in the end.

While I think Lane needs to dunk his head in a jar of Midol, I do have a >little< sweet spot for him. He likes pie. And Gretchen likes to bake to pies. I also like pie. And I like to bake pie. Okay…I like eating pie more than baking it, but there’s some serious pie love in this story that’s so far the saving grace for keeping my head in it. It’s PIE, people. What more do you want? We probably don’t even need a plot or those character arching things for all the pie talk.

What’s up for you this week?
